We spoke in class today about archetypes in literature- particularly the archetype of the Hero. However, every reader knows that a story about a hero is nothing without a supporting cast! Here are ten common archetypes, named for Carl Jung, a psychologist who developed them.
As a bonus...all the examples are from viewed narratives, since the vast majority of you said you preferred viewing narratives over reading them!
Now how about a little extra credit opportunity? Think of a narrative- read or viewed- and try to figure out which archetypes are filled in that narrative. Comment on this entry with your name, the name of the narrative and how a character from the narrative fills one of these Jungian archetypes and you've got yourself some extra credit! Happy archetype hunting!
The movie dragon ball Z:
Goku is a hero that saves the planet from evil and monsters and evil machines.
For villains there's a lot Cell is a machine that threatens the whole world and humanity extiction so goku has to come and save them.

Ash and Angela from Black Butler would be a villian archetype.
Grell would be the Eternal Child and Ciel would be the adult-like child. I have more if you need anymore :) :) :D :3
I love my anime...

Juno-
The "Mother Figure" would be Vannessa Loring ( Played By Jennifer Garner) because she helps Juno through out her pregnancy and later on adopts her baby.

percy jackson the lightning thief, percy's mom, the maiden, B/c she is the soul (no pun intended, you know hades and all) reason for him enduring the catastrophic and purnicious journey to the underworld (besides the lightning bolt). Also she fits the mother figure for literally being his mother and caring for him.

In Fairly Oddparents
Timmy Turner is the hero and trickster/comic and is bullied by the villians Vicky, Mr Crocker, Francis, and Dr. laser. His sidekicks Wanda and Cosmo (fairies) grant his every wish to help him defeat the bullies. A.J, and Chester are his human sidekicks who also help him face the bullies. His dad and mom are the eternal children becuase they play a lot and try to act like children. Mom also acts like the mother figure sometimes because she has a mothers instinct to call when she thinks something is going wrong at home.
